Java Enterprise System Components in a Logical Architecture

This figure shows the logical architecture for the example deployment. It shows the Java Enterprise system components and the user interfaces to them.

The components are organized into four rows. In general, components provide support to other components above them in the diagram.

Row one, the top row, shows Portal Server. A web-based interface provides a user entry point to Portal Server.

The next row down, row two, shows the Calendar Server and Messaging Server. A web-based interface provides a user entry point to Calendar Server. A client interface provides a user entry point to Messaging Server.

The next row down, row three, shows Identity Server.

The next row down, row four, shows Directory Server.

The diagram does not show the web container required to support Portal Server and Identity Server.
