Single Master Replication Example

This figure shows how to replicate a single master Directory Server.

The figure contains several client applications that read and write to Directory Server.

The figure also contains a Directory Server master with a corresponding master LDAP directory store and change log. The figure also shows several Directory Server consumers, each with their own replica copy of the LDAP Directory store.

The figure shows the flow of data as follows:

• Client applications write changes to the Directory Server Master
• Client applications read and search from any of the Directory Server Consumers
• The Directory Server master updates the Directory Server Consumer databases
• Client applications that write to a Directory Consumer have the write operation referred back to the client as a write operation directed to the Directory Server Master.
