Payment-related EDI Transactions

X12 uses an end-to-end method to route the 820 Payment Order/Remittance Advice from the originator company through the banks to the beneficiary. Use of this method means there can be several relay points between the sender and the receiver.

The Transaction Set 820 is wrapped in an ACH banking transaction for the actual funds transfer between the banks.
