Solaris 8 (Intel Platform Edition) Installation Guide

Using Solaris Web Start With an Install Server

You typically install Solaris software with Solaris Web Start by using the system's CD-ROM drive. You can, however, install Solaris over a network instead. Installing Solaris over the network involves setting up an install server, a machine on which an image of Solaris software exists. This image can be transferred over the network to other computers.

Setting up an install server and installing Solaris over a network are described in the Solaris 8 Advanced Installation Guide.
