config error: mail loops back to myself.


User sees this message when sending mail:

The sending system (see line 220) and the receiving system (see the HELO line) both think they are known as ""


Edit the file as follows:

  1. Type the official host name.

  2. For the domain, you have choices: If you want the gateway machine to identify itself as the domain, use Dj$m; if you want the gateway machine to appear to be inside the domain, use Dj$w.$m; and if you are using (or have a fully-qualified host name), use Dj$w.

  3. Uncomment Dj$w.$m and comment Dj$m. This gives each system a unique name. $w is the system host name, and $m is the domain.
