This topic describes how to replace a defective cable in a Sun™ Grid Rack System cable harness.
Assemble the tools required
8-inch cable ties
Diagonal cutters
Isolate the failed cable in the harness.
Determine the endpoints by matching the cable labels with the harness wiring tables. See Cabling Information to view the port -to-cable connection tables for each harness.
Disconnect the defective cable from components at both ends of the cable. Do not cut the cable ties on any of the harnesses.
Label the defective cable and leave it hanging from the harness not connected to anything.
(Optional) Carefully cut the ends off the defective cable close to the wire harness.
Label both ends of the new cable.
Connect each end of the new cable to the appropriate components.
Group the new cable neatly into the harness bundle and use the tie wraps included with the cable harness to secure the cable in place.

Note - The new cable may be longer than the existing cable. Carefully coil the excess cable and cable wrap neatly into place. |
