9/14/2005 Changes in CSC 5-1-10
- The CSC product licensing code is changeded to be compatible with the updated
format of the license key information provided by StorageTek. See PLE
18271478.
9/1/2005 Changes in CSC 5-1-9 (superceeded by CSC 5-1-10)
- The CSC product licensing code is updated to support the 9 digit MCNs used by
newer Dorado systems. The details of this are in PLE 18264455.
- Code is added to time calls from CSCTM to CSCUI and to correct otherwise
undetectable problems that prevent CSC form handling individual tape drives.
See PLE 18264471.
- The userid and password of the SIGNON runtime parameter are truncated to nine
characters rather than eight characters if they are too long. See PLE
18151618.
- CSC can issue an an improper "E" response to a "RING REQUIRED" or a "REMOVE
RING" message when using CARTTAPELIB$. See PLE 18265133.
- CSC using CARTTAPELIB$ cannot start if another CSC using ER STK$ is active
and controlling any of the same tape drives. See PLE 18265141.
- The maximum size is increased for the temporary execution file in the CSC
ECLto accommodate CSCTM growth.
4/26/2005 Changes in CSC 5-1-8
- The product licensing code is updated to accept customer names that contain
embedded spaces.
3/21/2005 Changes in CSC 5-1-7
- Enhancements to volume report support new features of the two library
servers. This includes reporting absent/ejected volumes with ACSLS 7 and
reporting for VSM volumes with NCS and VTCS.
- The following changes improve the stability of CSC:
* Independent tasks are used for communication path checking and for console
commands that may become blocked by events outside of CSC.
* Code is rearranged to prevent external events from blocking the timing task
that is responsible for ensuring the health of CSC.
- The following changes improve the scalability of CSC:
* Priorities are implemented for task starts to ensure that critical tasks
are started first.
* Requests to start low priority task can now be queued if CSC resources are
tight.
* CSC can queue more incoming connections from the server to deal with bursts
of retransmitted traffic that follow some communication failures. This
eliminates the requests CSC would otherwise make to recover the lost server
responses.
* When multiple drives are UPed or DNed, they are processed in batches saving
both CSC and server resources.
- Status handling is updated to eliminate a false "path unavailable" message
that often occurs just before that path is activated.
- Code is corrected so that setting the AUTOMOUNT parameter to false does not
disable BEFORE-MOUNT notifications.
- The sample JCL in NCS-PROCS is updated to prevent an SLS1203I error that can
occur after reconfiguration of the NCS server.
- The operator interface is enhanced to provide additional information on CSC
internal operation. New commands are also provided to control the display of
this information.
- Options were added to the EXCTL program to dump the CSCUI common banks. An
EXCTL execution using these options is added to the CSCDUMP run.
