Information Library for Solaris 2.6 (SPARC Platform Edition)

Chapter 9 Supported Hardware

The Solaris 2.6 release supports all sun4c and sun4d platforms. Most sun4u and sun4m platforms are also supported, but check with your hardware vendor for exceptions.

Solaris 2.6 installation requires a minimum of 16 Mbytes of RAM. At least 32 Mbytes of RAM is strongly recommended (Solaris Web Start requires 48 Mbytes of RAM). On some platforms, 16 Mbytes of RAM will not support the installation graphical user interface (GUI), which means the character user interface (CUI) must be used to install the Solaris 2.6 release.

The minimum disk space requirements for the Solaris 2.6 release are described in this table.

The Software Group ... Requires a Minimum Disk Space of ...
End User281 Mbytes [The End User software group, including swap, must fit on a 424-Mbyte disk.]
 Developer 537 Mbytes
 Entire 608 Mbytes
 Entire plus OEM 616 Mbytes
