Configuring the Proxylet Attributes

Proxylet can be configured to launch automatically when the user logs in by checking the Download Proxylet Applet Automatically checkbox under Deployment options. When the Download Proxylet Automatically checkbox is not selected, users can get Proxylet on-demand by clicking the Launch the Proxylet link in the Proxylet channel on the standard Portal Desktop.

ProcedureTo Configure the Proxylet Attributes

  1. Log into Portal Server administration console as administrator.

  2. Select the Secure Remote Access tab, and select the Proxylet tab.

  3. Select an appropriate DN from the Select DN list box or add an existing DN for a specific user or an organization.

  4. Under the Proxylet page, do the following:

    Attribute Name 

    Description 

    Download Proxylet Applet Automatically 

    Click Yes to allow Portal Server to download the applet when the user enables Proxylet. 

    Launch Mode 

    Select Java Web Start or Applet. 

    Default Proxylet Applet Bind IP 

    Enter the default IP address for Proxylet to listen too. 

    Default Proxylet Applet Port 

    Enter the default port number for Proxylet to listen too. 

    Automatic Proxy Configuration File Location 

    Enter the location of the configuration that contains the Proxylet configuration parameters, such as: domain, mapping information, and so on. 

  5. In the Proxylet Rules option, do the following:

    Specify the rules for the application to be launched through the Proxylet service.

    1. Click Add.

    2. Enter the domain name, for example, www.google.com in the Domain field.

    3. Enter the host and corresponding port number for domain for Proxylet to process.

      This ensures that Proxylet resolves the HTTP requests and the requests are not routed through Gateway.

  6. Click Save to complete.
