Chapter 1 Upgrading and Migrating to Directory Server Enterprise Edition to 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)

Directory Server Enterprise Edition 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) can be installed over existing installations. This chapter describes the general requirements for these installations.

Upgrade and Migration Paths

An existing installation of Directory Server Enterprise Edition can be patched, upgraded, or migrated to 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) depending on the installed version, as shown in Upgrade and Migration Paths:

The following sections describe the procedures for migrating and updating installations:

• Installations of version 7 can be patched, as described in Chapter 2, Patching Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7 to Version 11g Release 1 (11.1.1).

• Installations of version 6 can be upgraded with the current directory server software, as described in Chapter 3, Upgrading Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6 to Version 11g Release 1 (11.1.1).

• Installations of version 5.2 can be migrated by replacing the directory server software, as described in Part III, Migrating Directory Server Enterprise Edition 5.2 to Version 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
