Description:If the Portal Server is using the Sun Java System Application server as its web container, stopping and restarting the web container in some cases causes an error that prevents the user from being able to log in to the Portal Server through the gateway. The problem occurs for all webcontainers— Application Server S8.1, Web Server, BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere.
Solution:Stop and restart the gateway. In a terminal window, type:
gateway-base/bin/gateway stop
gateway-base/bin/gateway start
