Preface

This book describes how to install the SBus Expansion Subsystem, to troubleshoot any problem, and to replace components.

Who Should Read This Book

A Sun customer with a little computer experience should be able to install the SBus Expansion Subsystem hardware. A System Administrator or experienced end-user, who is familiar with reconfiguring the operating system kernel, should install the software. Only a Sun customer familiar with replacing hardware, a technician, a field engineer, a system administrator, or a customer support engineer should troubleshoot and replace components.

Typographical Conventions

This book uses a number of typographical conventions.

• The italic font indicates emphasis, a command argument for which you must replace the argument name, or a book title. For example:

• Courier font indicates text the system displays on the screen. This font also indicates characters and words you type (when these words are shown within text). Examples:

• Bold font indicates what you type (when these words are illustrated in screen examples). For example:

• When you see two key names separated by a hyphen (-), press and hold the first key, then press the second key. For example:

To press Control-d, press and hold Control, then press d.
