This update dated 10/8/1999, part number 806-0215-11, includes late-breaking information that has become available since the SEAS 3.0 Release Notes document, part number 806-0215-10, was released on the Web site docs.sun.com in August 1999.
All changes to the Release Notes are contained in this section titled Update 10/8/1999. All other sections of this document are the same as they were when published on docs.sun.com in August 1999.
Files in the European language versions of the AdminSuite packages may be installed with the wrong user and group permissions. The packages whose files may be installed with the wrong permissions are:
SUNWdeeam
SUNWeseam
SUNWfream
SUNWiteam
SUNWsveam
If any of these packages have been installed, check the permissions on files in the following directories:
/opt/SUNWseam/3_0/classes
/opt/SUNWseam/3_0/locale
/opt/SUNWseam/3_0/help
If any of the files in these directories have an owner that is not "root" or a group that is not "other," then complete the following procedure to change the owner and group permissions to "root" and "other."
cd /opt/SUNWseam/3_0/classes
chown --R root:other *
cd /opt/SUNWseam/3_0/locale
chown --R root:other *
cd /opt/SUNWseam/3_0/help
chown --R root:other *
The section titledConfiguring WBEM in the Solaris Easy Access Server 3.0 Installation Guide indicates, incorrectly, that the installation process does not prompt for the Sun Directory Server password and that as a result, the Sun Directory Server does not start. The section then describes the procedure for running a configuration script that prompts for the Sun Directory Server password.
The installation process does, in fact, prompt for the Sun Directory Server password, and if it is supplied at that time, the Sun Directory Server will start and WBEM will be configured properly at the time of installation.
If the Sun Directory Server password is not supplied during the installation process, then the procedure described in the Configuring WBEM section will be required to start the Sun Directory Server and configure WBEM.
Password fields in Sun Enterprise Authentication Mechanism (SEAM) do not accept Extended (8-bit)characters. SEAM documentation does not document this restriction.
If you select the Printer Port pull-down menu from the New Attached Printer window, the menu options may be unreadable on systems running Solaris Print Manager in a low memory situation.
Workaround: Resolve the low memory situation by quitting unused applications and restarting Solaris Print Manager. Otherwise, use the Other option from the Printer Port pull-down menu and type in the device name of the printer port.
