Sun Cluster 2.2 7/00 Release Notes

Hardware Notes

Sun Cluster 2.2 software does not support the dynamic reconfiguration (DR) features of the Sun Enterprise E3x00 through E6x00 servers when these servers use SBus-SCI communications interface cards. An attempt to replace a server component while the server is still a running, active cluster member can cause unplanned loss of service.

To replace a server component in a cluster environment, first check the Sun Enterprise Cluster Hardware Service Manual (805-6512) to determine what special tasks, if any, you must perform. In general, to replace server components you must first switch over the data services to another functioning node of the cluster, halt the node to be serviced, and power down the node. Then you are ready to perform the hardware procedure to replace the component. After the procedure is complete, rejoin the node to the cluster and switch back the logical hosts to the default masters.
