Sun Enterprise Authentication Mechanism 1.0.2 Guide describes how to install, administer, and use the SEAM 1.0.2 product. SEAM 1.0.2 provides the SEAM remote applications for the Solaris 9 release.
Most of this book is focused on the steps necessary to install, configure, and maintain the product. In addition, information for users about SEAM has been included.
The Solaris operating environment runs on two types of hardware, or platforms--SPARCTM and IA. The Solaris operating environment runs on both 64-bit and 32-bit address spaces. The information in this document pertains to both platforms and address spaces unless called out in a special chapter, section, note, bullet, figure, table, example, or code example.
This book is designed for the following audiences:
System administrators and advanced users who need to install, configure, or administer a SEAM setup.
Anyone making use of the user-level commands provided by SEAM, such as SEAM versions of ftp or rcp.
The information for users requires only a basic knowledge of the Solaris operating environment. The information for administrators, chiefly that regarding installation, configuration, and administration of SEAM, requires a broad knowledge of the Solaris operating environment, including network administration topics. The installation and maintenance section requires familiarity with standard Solaris installation procedures.
Chapter 1, Introduction to SEAM provides an overview of the SEAM product.
Chapter 2, Configuring SEAM (Tasks) presents the procedures for installing SEAM 1.0.2 and configuring SEAM network application servers.
Chapter 3, SEAM Error Messages and Troubleshooting explains the more important error messages produced by SEAM.
Chapter 4, Using SEAM (Tasks) provides user-level instructions for using SEAM utilities such as ftp and rlogin.
Chapter 5, SEAM (Reference) describes all of the files that are included in the SEAM release. Also included is a detailed overview of the way the SEAM 1.0.2 product works.
