These release notes contain the following sections:
The iPlanet Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, SP3 provides a low-cost entry point for enterprises that want to build web applications using a J2EE compliant application server, but do not require the sophistication of embedded transaction monitors, complex administration tools, and state/session management.
iPlanet Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, SP3 is a paper license restricted version of iPlanet Application Server, Enterprise Edition 6.0, SP3. iPlanet Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, SP3 imposes the additional restrictions listed below:
"Licensed Software" means all or any portion of the iPlanet (TM) Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, Service Pack 3 in binary form (the "Product"), and any other machine readable materials (including, but not limited to, libraries, header files, and data files), additional software, user manuals, programming guides and other documentation provided to you by Sun Microsystems, Inc. ("Sun") as part of, or embedded with, the files that comprise the Product.
You may not replicate HttpSession across iPlanet Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, SP3 instances, or replicate stateful session bean instance data. Clustering is not allowed. Also, the "dsync-distributed" setting is not allowed, and stateful session beans `failover-required' cannot be enabled. (These settings can be found in the iPlanet Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, SP3 deployment descriptor DTDs.) You may not use the built in Servlet or EJB failover (no distributed /clustered session).
You may use one software plug-in for the web server to communicate with only one Software instance, which means there will be no Load Balancing using the included iWS Plug-in. The iWS plug-in can only be used for request forwarding.
If Software includes either the Netscape or iPlanet Directory Server software bundled or embedded ("DSS"), you may use such DSS for storage of:
Storage of any user information (including, but not limited to contact information and user preferences) except as explicitly provided in this section, or access to DSS from other software products on a stand-alone basis requires purchase of a DSS license.
For detailed information on terms and conditions, please refer to the "Supplemental Terms and Conditions for iPlanet Application Server, Standard Edition 6.0, SP3" included in the "Media and Documentation" package, or the "LICENSE.txt" file displayed during installation.
