Configuring Solaris

Install patches for Solaris on all the servers and make sure that the appropriate patches are installed by running the command : uname -a

Installing and Configuring Oracle

Make sure that the initial database administration setup is performed and that the initialization parameters are set to values corresponding to your catalog size.

Periodic maintenance - Apart from daily database monitoring and logging activities, analyze the tables and indices and gather statistics periodically. Run the ctxsrv process.

Net8 should be configured for installer to create Oracle schema because it uses service_name to connect. Make sure that SQLPLUS can connect using the format "sqlplus userid/passwd@service_name".

Ensure that the database URL points to the correct host and port locations on all the web server / iPlanet Market Maker hosts.

|
Ensure that the maximum connection pool sizes are set to correct values on all the web server / iPlanet Market Maker hosts.

|
Set the 'extent' sizes of the Oracle tables (indices) for different modules to appropriate values.

Configuring LDAP

Make sure that ldaphost and ldapport settings point to the correct host and port locations on all the web server/iPlanet Market Maker hosts.

Make sure that the minimum and maximum values of the LDAP Connection pool settings are set correctly on all the web server/iPlanet Market Maker hosts.

Ensure that the LDAP indices are added to the file slapd.ldbm.conf.

Be sure to turn off the LDAP access logs after the installation achieves stability.

Configure web servers
|

|
Set the maximum heap size for JVM to the prescribed value on all the web servers.

Num threads - Rq Throttle : Ensure that threads are set to min 512.

Ensure logging is off.

Enable Job Scheduler.

Site setup - Add all iPlanet Market Maker servers / Load- balance CPU load.

Set scheduling rules - Add all servers and setup cookie persistance.

Set the forwarding rules so that all requests are passed from the proxy server to the web server.
