You must install the Direct Access Object (DAO) and Open DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) components before installing and configuring the LDAP service provider.

Installing the DAO |
| 1. | Insert the SIMS 3.5 client CD in the Windows machine. |
| 2. | Click on the Data Access Objects (DAO) button. |
| This displays the InstallShield Dialog box, which prompts you to install the DAO component. |
| 3. | Click on Yes in the InstallShield Dialog box. |
| Click on Yes to all the defaults. |
Note - If you have already installed a DAO component, exit the setup procedure and go to the next section.

Installing the ODBC |
| 1. | Insert the SIMS 3.5 client CD in the Windows machine. |
| This launches the Sun Internet Mail Server Client Component Install menu. |
| 2. | Click on the Data Access Pack (ODBC) button. |
| This displays the InstallShield Dialog box, which prompts you to install the ODBC component. |
| 3. | Click on Yes in the InstallShield Dialog box. |
| Click on Yes to all the defaults. |
| 4. | Select the Data Access Drivers setting in the Data Access Pack Dialog and click on Continue. |
