Troubleshooting

The sections below are for system administrators. Section titles attempt to anticipate end user questions and to suggest system administrator responses.

I can't login to Sun Web Access

Check to see if Web Access is up and running.

  1. Go to http://<hostname>:8080/WebAccess and try to log into your own account.
If you are unable to log in go to the next step.
  2. Go to http://<hostname>:9090 and check if the Java WebServer is running in the Java Web Server Administration Console.

If the Java Web Server is not running the Administration Console, check to see if the Java Web Server process is running by entering the following in a shell:

  % ps -ef | grep webaccess.root
  3. Restart Web Access.
# /etc/rc3.d/K89webaccess stop
# /etc/rc3.d/K89webaccess start
If the login problem persists, the user may be trying to access Web Access through an incorrect URL. Here's what to do:
  4. Point the user to http://<hostname>:8080/WebAccess

If the problem remains, check to confirm the user has a proper entry in the LDAP directory.

Here are other items to check:

Is the user running a supported browser? Supported browsers include: Netscape Navigator 3.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, and HotJava 1.1 or compatible versions.
Does the browser have cookies enabled? Web Access requires that cookies be enabled. See the appropriate documentation for the user's browser and enable the cookies feature if it is not already.
Is the user entering the correct login name and password? Check the user's directory entry.
