Installing Stand-Alone SunTM Web Access

For optimal performance, it is recommended that you install Web Access as a stand-alone product on a server where SIMS is not installed. The Web Access server, however, will be linked to the SIMS server where Sun Directory Services will be available to the Web Access server.

To accomplish this, do the following steps:

  1. Follow steps 1 through 7 given in Section "Running the Installation Script," under the heading "Installing SIMS 3.5," in the beginning of this chapter.
  2. Select the Web Access option.
  3. Specify the server name and the port number for the server where LDAP services for the Web Access server are available as shown in Step 15 in Section "Running the Installation Script."
  4. Enter configuration information about the server on which Web Access is being installed as covered in Step 11 in Section "Running the Installation Script."
  5. Run Setup Install by following the directions explained in step 17 through 24 in Section "Running the Installation Script."
See Chapter "Post-Installation Sun Web Access Setup," to set up, configure, and start your Web Access server.
