This section provides a sample topology that illustrates an e-mail system for a small organization of 1000 or fewer mailboxes.The Engineering workgroup is composed of 300 employees who are part of a larger organization, the Alpha Corporation, which is composed of 600 employees. The Alpha Corporation does not employ a company-wide e-mail system. The Engineering work group is located on the second floor of the Alpha Building.
The Alpha Corporation implements the DNS. Its registered domain name is alpha.com and the domain eng.alpha.com is used internally to represent the Engineering work group.
