D.4 Suboptimal Disk I/O Performance in Certain Cases
Oracle JRockit Virtual Edition, like all operating systems, maintains an in-memory disk cache to improve disk I/O performance. Under certain conditions, this in-memory cache has to be flushed to guarantee a consistent disk state. The current release of Oracle JRockit Virtual Edition flushes the in-memory disk cache in some cases where it is not strictly necessary to do so. This can result in suboptimal performance in some cases — for example, deletion of a large number of files.
