You can select resources to work with from a workspace definition file (WDF), or from local resources that you have created using the Add-In.
A WDF is a snapshot of a Documaker Studio workspace. If a Documaker document is associated with a WDF, there will be various resources that you can select from to include in the document as elements, or apply to the document. Resources in the workspace are called workspace resources.
Note | You cannot edit or remove workspace resources because they are a fixed part of the workspace definition file. |
As you work with Documaker documents, you can add resources as needed.
For example, you need to insert a Policy Number field into your document, but this field resource does not appear in the Insert Field list. You can create a Policy Number field resource, and then insert into the document
When you create a resource, it is called a local resource because you have created it locally on your computer.
Local resources do not become part of the workspace definition file, but instead get added to your local resource file.
You can use local or workspace resources in more than one Documaker document. All the resources you create are brought into Studio during the conversion process.
You can create, edit, and remove only local resources.
Important | Any local resources you have created that are not defined in the workspace definition file will appear as undefined resources in Documaker Studio after conversion. |
