3 Upgrade

This chapter describes the steps necessary to upgrade from Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10.3 or 10.3.0.1 to Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10.3.3.

  1. Ensure that you have met the prerequisites for upgrade. For details, see Prerequisites.

  2. Run the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration installer. For details, see Running the Installer During Upgrade.

  3. Upgrade the portal and Oracle WebCenter Collaboration databases. Run the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration database upgrade script appropriate for your previous version of Oracle WebCenter Collaboration. For details, see Upgrading the Portal and Oracle WebCenter Collaboration Databases.

  4. If Oracle WebCenter Collaboration is running on the embedded application server, delete the work\collab directory from install_dir\common\container\tomcat\6.0.14, and restart Oracle WebCenter Collaboration.

  5. (Image Service on IIS only) Configure the Image Service to work with the Notification Service. For details, see Configuring the Image Service for Notification Emails.

  6. (Optional) Configure Oracle WebCenter Collaboration integration with Oracle Universal Content Management. You only must perform this step if you want to export Oracle WebCenter Collaboration projects or documents to Oracle Universal Content Management. For details, see Configuring Oracle WebCenter Collaboration Integration with Oracle Universal Content Management.

  7. Import the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration migration package. For details, see Importing the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration Migration Package.

  8. Start Oracle WebCenter Collaboration and verify the installation. For details, see Starting and Verifying the Installation.

  9. Rebuild the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration search collection. For details, see Rebuilding the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration Search Collection.

  10. Enable the wiki and/or blog feature on existing Oracle WebCenter Collaboration projects. For details about wikis and blogs and how to enable them, see the Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide for Oracle WebCenter Interaction.

Running the Installer During Upgrade

To run the installer during upgrade:

  1. Back up the portal and Oracle WebCenter Collaboration databases. This enables you to recover your data if there is a problem during upgrade. For more information, see your database documentation.

  2. Stop Oracle WebCenter Collaboration.

  3. Stop the Search Server, Automation Service, and Document Repository Service.

  4. Back up the Document Repository directory on the file system. By default, this directory is located in:

    • (UNIX/Linux) /opt/oracle/middleware/wci/ptdr/documents/PTCollab

    • (Windows) C:\Oracle\Middleware\wci\ptdr\documents\PTCollab

  5. Clear the Embedded Servlet Engine's work directory. This enables you to recover your data if there is a problem during upgrade. By default, this directory is located in:

    • (UNIX/Linux) /opt/oracle/middleware/wci/common/container/tomcat/<version>/work

    • (Windows) C:\Oracle\Middleware\wci\common\container\tomcat\<version>\work

  6. Copy the installer file to the directory where you installed the previous version of Oracle WebCenter Collaboration. This allows the installer to use the silent properties file created by previous installations. For more information on using the silent properties file, see Appendix B, "Silent Properties File."

If you want to install to a new location or do not want to use the silent properties file, you can launch the installer from any location on the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration host machine.

  7. Install the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration components as described in Installing the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration Components.

  8. (Windows only) When the installer prompts you, reboot the machine. If you do not reboot, certain PATH environment variable changes might not take effect, and you will get errors when you try to deploy and start the applications.
