This graphic shows the process for creating a Parameter in an object for the first time: You can create a Parameter using any of the three methods:
Use an existing Parameter definition: Oracle LSH creates a Parameter Set definition and instance in the object's definition, each containing an instance of the selected Parameter.
Use an existing Parameter Set: Oracle LSH creates an instance of the selected Parameter Set, with all its Parameters, in the object definition.
Create a new Parameter definition and instance: Oracle LSH creates a Parameter definition in the Application Area, a Parameter Set definition (which contains an instance of the Parameter) in the object, and an instance of the Parameter Set in the object.
In Oracle LSH, a Parameter always exists inside a Parameter Set instance but you cannot see a Parameter Set instance in the user interface (UI).
The next step is optional and applies only if you are working in a Report Set or Workflow: you may set up Parameter Value Propagation.
Finally, you must create an Execution Setup for the object instance. Oracle LSH creates a Parameter Set instance in the Execution Setup and copies Parameter instance(s) from the object into it.
When you create more Parameters for this object definition, Oracle LSH adds them to the existing Parameter Set definition and instance.
