Navigation

Learning to navigate through OIPA is the first step toward being able to create and search for clients and policies. The security group a user is assigned to will determine the navigation options available to that user. There may be menu options or screen activities that are not visible to a user who is logged into OIPA. This will happen if the user does not have access for those particular menu options or activities.

IMPORTANT: Since OIPA is a web application, do not use the tab feature in Internet Explorer with the application. Using tabs with a window can cause data to display incorrectly between windows.

There are six important areas of OIPA navigation:

  1. Main menu:  Allows the user to work with policy, client, disbursement, suspense, plan and table information. The options available on the Main menu can differ depending on the level of security the user has been assigned. If a menu or action is not available, then the user has not been given security access.

  2. Secondary menu:: Allows the user to access actions that relate to the screen that is open. These options are also based on security. If a link for a particular action is not available then the user has not been given security access to perform that action.

  3. Left Navigation menu:  This menu is directly related to the Main menu. When an option is selected from the Main menu, the Left Navigation menu will display the links associated with that option. For example, if Policy is selected from the Main menu, then the Left Navigation menu will display links associated with the Policy screen.

  4. Screen section:  This is the central area where the screen information will display. For example, if the Roles link is selected, then the Role screen information will display in this area. If the Activities link is selected, then the Activities screen information will display in this area.

  5. LOGOUT:  Allows the user to exit the OIPA application.

  6.

  7. Help: Allows the user to access on-line help.

Navigation may differ depending on the platform being using.
