Oracle Fusion applications include one Oracle BI repository that contains content for all offerings. The content in the Oracle BI repository is striped by project. Each Oracle BI repository project is mapped to an Oracle Fusion application and BI application offering. Based on the offerings the customer deploys in Oracle Fusion applications, the corresponding projects must be extracted from the deployed Oracle BI repository. Optimizing the Oracle BI repository provides the following:
Improves usability—For a majority of clients only a subset of BI content is required. Deploying only the required components makes it easier to use.
BI Server start up—Deploying a smaller Oracle BI repository speeds server startup.
In Oracle Fusion Middleware, the Oracle BI repository is trimmed using the Administration Tool (Windows-only client). After users deploy Oracle Fusion applications, they are redirected to extract the relevant Transactional Business Intelligence and BI Applications Oracle BI repository projects using the Administration Tool. See “Oracle Fusion Middleware Metadata Repository Builder's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition”.
Note: | For subsequent Oracle Fusion applications, users must use the Administration Tool to re-extract the relevant Oracle BI repository projects and perform a three-way merge to preserve any customizations they may have done. |
