To size, use the ESG Reference Architecture sizing tool. You answer questions and it suggests a hardware and software configuration.
To size your hardware and software configurations, use the ESG Reference Architecture sizing tool. You answer questions and it estimates what you need so that performance of your VCP applications is appropriate to match your expected volume.
The tool is based on standard, recommended practices and does not account for specialized or highly customized solutions. There can be performance dependencies on custom applications or on applications outside of the scope of the components the sizer questions and that have significant impact on system configuration. For example, a:
Custom application deployed on a machine hosting a standard component
Backend application that sends data or messages in bursts of communication with a remote application and blocks the execution of automation processes.
You and your Oracle account team are responsible for deciding whether to implement the architecture proposed by the sizing tool.
You need to re-plan your size needs for as your plan size approaches the maximum limit of the resources that your system supports.
See My Oracle Support note 1301231.1: How to Get System Sizing Help for Value Chain Planning (VCP) Applications
See Oracle Rapid Planning Installation Guide, System Requirements.
The input details for Rapid Planning are similar to other Value Chain Planning applications with these differences:
The middle tier sizing for Rapid Planning plans is critical. Review it carefully to make sure that you have adequate resources to run each plan successfully.
All input parameters play an important part in the sizing. The Item-Organization combinations information is critical because it gives the sizer a sense of the plan data volume.
A 32-bit operating system may be too small and will not likely scale in production.
The estimate is for running one plan on one managed server. If you want to run or load plans in parallel, multiply this estimate by the number of plans to calculate for the WebLogic server total memory required.
