Overview
|
A configuration tag is a label that specifies a collection of Enterprise Gateway
configuration profile versions (Certificate Store, User Store, Core Configuration, External
Connections and Listeners). Such a collection of configuration profile versions is also known
as a configuration assembly. Tagging an assembly associates a logical
name with the corresponding configuration profile versions in that assembly. For example,
the DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION tag is associated with the configuration assembly
in a default installation. Tagging an assembly also enables you to edit configuration
offline, and deploy later on a specified process.
The Deployment Wizard enables you to select a tagged configuration assembly
and deploy it on a Enterprise Gateway process. You can also deploy tags on selected configuration
profile versions only. To access the wizard, click the Deployment Wizard
button in the toolbar on the Oracle Enterprise Gateway Dashboard.
For details on adding and deleting configuration tags, see
Managing Configuration Profiles.

Deploying Tags on a Process
|
To deploy a tag on a process, perform the following steps in the Deployment Wizard:
- Select a tag in the Tags table. The Configurations
table below is updated with the configuration store information that corresponds to the
selected tag. The first tag is selected by default. If a large number of tags exist, you
can enter a search string in the text box to filter the contents of the table.
- When you have selected the tag that you wish to deploy, if you are connected to a
Enterprise Gateway process, click Deploy to deploy the tag. If you are connected
to a Policy Center process, click Next to proceed to the next screen.

Deploying Tags on Configuration Profiles
|
Alternatively, if you wish to deploy by selecting one or more configuration profiles,
perform the following steps in the Deployment Wizard:
- Click the Advanced button on the first screen in the wizard.
In the next screen, the panel on the left is the same as the Tag/Profile
Manager view.
- In the Filter Options toolbar, click the Filter by
Tag button to apply an existing tag.
- You can click the Filter by Row Count button in the toolbar
to apply a number of filters to the table (for example,
Show Latest Only ,
Last 3 , and so on). The Show Latest Only filter is applied
by default.
- You must select at least one configuration store to progress. You can select
and unselect a store by double-clicking a store version node in the list on the left
and the right, or by using the arrow buttons provided. The arrow buttons are only
enabled for appropriate items. If you inadvertently select two stores of the same
type, and attempt to select both, only one is moved to the Selected
Stores list, provided a store of that type has not already been selected.
- When you have selected the tag that you wish to deploy, if you are connected
to a Enterprise Gateway process, click Deploy to deploy this tag. If you
are connected to a Policy Center process, click Next to proceed to
the next screen.

Selecting Processes (Policy Center only)
|
If you are currently connected to a Policy Center server, the next screen displays the registered
processes. However, if you are connected directly to a Enterprise Gateway process, this screen is skipped,
and the Summary screen is displayed instead.
This screen displays the list of processes registered with the Policy Center server, and enables
you to deploy the tagged configuration on multiple processes. Perform the following steps:
- Select at least one process from the list before being allowed to proceed.
- When you have selected the required processes, click Deploy to
deploy the selected tag on the selected processes.

Summary Screen
|
When the Summary screen is displayed, the deployment starts, and deployment
to each server occurs sequentially. Feedback is provided using icons and status text.
Cancelling Deployments
You can cancel deployments by clicking the Cancel button. Feedback is provided
in the description at the top of the wizard. For example, Cancelling deployments, please
wait...(Note: the current deployment will run to completion) . You cannot cancel a deployment
when it has started, so the wizard performs the cancellation at the end of the current deployment,
with all remaining deployments being cancelled.
Deployment Errors
Client-side and server-side errors can occur. Client-side errors are displayed in the System
Trace in the Console view. If any server-side deployment errors occur during
the deployment process, you can review these in the Deployment Error Log view. This
is displayed at the bottom of the screen when you click Finish, and lists any errors
that occur for each process. The corresponding Console Deployment Log is also
available in the Console view.
Redeploying
When you have deployed a configuration to one or more processes, you can click back through the wizard
to change your selections and redeploy, without needing to exit and relaunch the wizard.
