360 Degree Search

The 360 Degree Search allows users to search for accounts using a variety of search criteria. Navigate using Main Menu > 360 Degree Search .

The following topics provide additional information about the searching capability provided in the product.

Search by Person

The person search allows a user to find an account via persons linked to the account using a combination of Name and ID Type / ID Number. Please note the following about the search criteria:

A Search Type appears adjacent to the name if your implementation has enabled fuzzy searching. If this is visible, choose the desired name searching technique. Standard search uses the type of searching available throughout the product with wildcard search capability. Fuzzy searching that relies on special indexes configured in the database to attempt to resolve alternate spellings or simple keying errors.
The user may optionally enter a Tax Type in addition to the name or ID search values. This is useful when the user knows the tax type whose details need to be viewed.

The search results show a row for every account that has a person matching the name / ID search criteria. Note the following about the search results:

Account security is applied. Users will not see any results for persons that are linked to accounts they do not have access to.
If Tax Type is provided in the search criteria, the results are limited to accounts that have persons matching the name / ID search criteria and have a tax role for this tax type. The information about the match Tax Roles are displayed in the search results.
The person's name is displayed as hypertext. If clicked, the user is brought to the 360 Degree View - Person tab.
The account's information is displayed as hypertext. If clicked, the user is brought to the 360 Degree View - Account tab.
If a tax type is provided in the search criteria, the tax role information is displayed as hypertext. If clicked, the user is brought to the 360 Degree View - Tax Role tab.

Search by Account ID

The account search allows a user to find an account directly using its account id. The search results show a row for every person linked to the account and its name and ID number:

Account security is applied. Users will not see any results if they do not have security for the account entered.
The person's name is displayed as hypertext. If clicked, the user is brought to the 360 Degree View - Person tab.
The account's information is displayed as hypertext. If clicked, the user is brought to the 360 Degree View - Account tab.

Search by External Tax Role ID

Many tax authorities provide taxpayers with external identifiers for each tax role. The external tax role search allows a user to find an account by providing the external id for one of its tax roles. The search results show a row for every person linked to an account that has a tax role with that external id.

Note: More than one tax role may exist for the same external tax role ID, depending on the business requirements. The base product provides validation when creating a tax role that the external id is unique within a given tax type for a given effective period.

Account security is applied. Users will not see any results if they do not have security for the account entered.
