Create diagnostic system modules

A diagnostic system module is a software component that you configure to monitor an aspect of a server or server resource. You can configure multiple system modules to monitor different aspects of a server, but only one such module can be active on a server.

To create a diagnostic system module:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane, expand Diagnostics and select Diagnostic Modules.
  3. On the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page, click New.
  4. On the Create a Diagnostics System Module page, enter a name for the module and, optionally, enter a description. Then click OK. The name of the new diagnostic module is added to the Diagnostic Modules table on the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page.
  5. On the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page, click the name of the new module.
  6. On the Settings for [Module Name] page, set configuration options for the module:
  7. To target the module to a server or cluster, select Targets. For more instructions, see Target and untarget diagnostic system modules.
  8. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
