Target and deploy JDBC multi data sources

When you target and deploy a JDBC multi data source, a new instance of the multi data source is created on each target that you select, but the underlying data sources are not automatically targeted to the multi data source's deployment targets. As part of the process of changing deployment targets for a multi data source, you must make sure that all of the data sources that the multi data source will manage are deployed to same targets that you want to deploy the multi data source to. You can change deployment targets for data sources and multi data sources in one configuration edit session.

To target and deploy a JDBC multi data source:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. Target all data sources in the multi data source to the same deployment targets on which you want to deploy the multi data source. For instructions, see Target JDBC data sources.
  3. In the Domain Structure tree, expand Services, then select Data Sources.
  4. On the Summary of Data Sources page, click the multi data source name.
  5. Select the Target tab.
  6. On the Target tab, select each server or cluster on which you want to deploy the multi data source.
  7. Click Save to save the JDBC multi data source configuration and deploy the multi data source to the targets that you selected.
  8. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
