For Installation Engineers
Upgrading to Content Server 7.0.2 Provides instructions for upgrading from version 6.3 current patch to Content Server 7.0.2.
Installing Content Server Each guide contains instructions for installing CS 7.0.2 to run on one of the following supported servers:
  • Oracle Application Server
  • Tomcat Application Server
  • WebSphere Application Server
  • WebLogic Application Server
    Updated: Nov. 5, 2007: Removed instructions relating to the WebLogic Portal and renamed the guide accordingly (formerly Installing Content Server with BEA WebLogic Server). New in CS 7.0.1: Added support for WebLogic 10.
  • JBoss Application Server and Portal Server
    New in CS 7.0.1: Added support for JBoss 4.2.0 and JBoss Portal 2.6.0. (Removed support for JBoss Portal 2.4.)
  • Sun Java Enterprise System
    New in CS 7.0.1: Added instructions for setting up a Portal Server instance in addition to the default instance, and for configuring user access to the portal tabs. Added Sun Web Server support. Removed all references and material related to JES 2005Q4 and JES 2006Q4 (the guide now covers strictly JES5).

Installing Satellite Server Provides instructions for installing and configuring Satellite Server, both co-resident and remote. Applies to web and portal installations.

New in CS 7.0.1:
Updated system requirements, values for file_size and cache_max properties, and URLs to Satellite Server (reflecting the switch from servlet context to URI context).

Integrating Content Server with LDAP Explains how to integrate Content Server with flat-schema LDAP servers (using the CS-LDAP integrator provided with Content Server) and with hierarchical-schema LDAP servers.
Internationalization Settings Guide Provides instructions for configuring your environment to support the UTF-8 character encoding used by Content Server. This guide also provides instructions for installing and configuring language packs, as well as localizing the components of existing sites.

Nov. 5, 2007: Supplemented language pack installation procedures with information about clusters (page 23).
Clarified language pack installation steps (page 27).
Backup and Recovery Guide Contains guidelines and procedures for backing up and recovering:

Developer's Guide Provides conceptual and procedural information about data modeling, page design, page caching, security, web services, and much more.

New in CS 7.0.1:
  • "Configuring Bundled Attribute Editors." This chapter describes how to configure the following attribute editors:
    - FCKEditor
    - Image Picker
    - Online Image Editor
    - RENDERFLASH (Flash renderer)
    - eWebEditPro (which is not distributed by FatWire as of ...)
  • "Setting Up Flash Content Management." This chapter describes how to configure Content Server and flex family members to support Flash content.
  • "Asset API." This chapter provides a brief overview of the Asset API and the interfaces it provides.
  • "Asset API Tutorial." This appendix presents scenarios and code samples to demonstrate usage of the Asset API.
Developer's Tag Reference Contains reference pages for Content Server public XML and JSP tags, CS Web Services, and Java API.

Delivery Portlet Developer’s Guide Guides portal developers through the process of writing their own portlets using Content Server’s asset model.

Administrator's Guide Provides conceptual and procedural information about user and system management, workflow planning and configuration, revision tracking, publishing, and database maintenance.

New in CS 7.0.1:
  • Publishing. Major editorial changes.
    • Chapter 12, "Managing the CS Publishing System," was divided into smaller chapters, each one dedicated to a specific publishing topic or method.
    • Two new chapters were added:
      - "Approval System" explains how the approval system works, outlines the rules it uses to evaluate dependencies, and presents    many examples to support the concepts.
      - "Topics in Static Publishing and the Approval Process" discusses the approval process as it relates to static publishing,    answers frequently asked questions, and presents examples illustrating the outcome of various approval / publishing scenarios.
     All chapters related to publishing can be found in Part 3, "Managing the Publishing System."
  • Updated Lucene configuration instructions to reflect CS 7.0.1 functionality.

Dash Interface User's Guide Shows content providers how to work with Content Server's Dash interface, which provides quick, intuitive access to editorial tools for creating and managing content. User-friendly design simplifies content management tasks, facilitates access to information, provides full-text search capability, incorporates Web 2.0 features (such as tagging), and supports different locales and languages.

Note: Chapter 1 provides a features list comparing Dash and Advanced interfaces.

New in CS 7.0.1:

    • "Working with Multilingual Assets"—Shows how to create and manage translations of assets.
