Add metrics to a chart

Before you begin

Open or create a custom view, as explained in Display views.

For related concepts regarding charts, see The Parts of a Chart.

Note: A metric can be added to a chart only once, but the same metric can be on more than one chart in the same or different views.


The basic types of metrics you can add to a chart are:

Polled metrics are displayed only in current time range charts. If you set a chart to a custom time range so that you can view historical metric data from the Archive, the dashboard displays only collected metrics in the chart. For more information about the way metrics are displayed in current and custom time range charts, see Understanding How Metrics Are Collected and Presented.

Metrics can be added to a chart in any custom view in either of the following ways:

Any chart can contain multiple metrics. If you add a metric to an empty view using the drag-and-drop method, a chart is created and the metric is added to it automatically.
