Insert an Alternative Path

After completing this topic, you will be able to insert an Alternative Path.

Steps:

1. Step 1

2. In this topic, the primary path to access the Open dialog box uses the File menu and the Open command. You want to create an alternative path that allows users to use the Open button in WordPad to access the Open dialog box.

   Step 2

3. Add an Alternative Path.

    

   Click the Insert menu.

4. Click the Alternative Path command.

   Step 4

5. The pointer changes into a black arrow with an E at the end. Use the black arrow to click the circle representing the frame you want to use as the end frame of the Alternative Path.

    

   We clicked the third F frame for you, which is the frame where the Open dialog box appears.

   Step 5

6. The Recorder opens.

    

   We have switched to the WordPad application. You will capture the action to click the Open button.

7. Activate the WordPad window.

    

   Click the Document - WordPad title bar to activate it.

8. Select the Open button on the toolbar.

    

   Click the Open button.

9. Press [PrintScreen] to capture the action.

10. Finish the recording.

     

    Click the Finish button on the Recorder.

17. Click the Alternative Action icon until you cycle to the action that prompts you to click the Open button.

     

    Click the Show next Alternative action icon.

18. Click the Show next Alternative action icon to view the next alternative action.

20. Notice that the action skips over the frame that shows the commands on the File menu and jumps to the Open dialog box.
