Edit a Topic or Test


After completing this topic, you will be able to edit a topic or test using Record It!.


Steps:

  1. You can use Record It! to edit an existing topic or test.

  2. You can edit any topic or test assigned to you.

     

    You cannot edit a topic or test that you created and assigned to another user.

  3. The Topic Editor opens with a Welcome screen describing the screen layout.

     

    Note: The features in the Record It! Topic Editor are a subset of the full Developer Topic Editor.

  4. You can use the tabs to view toolpanes.

  5. Use the Frame Structure toolpane to change frames in the topic. You click a frame button to select a frame.

  6. You can use the Frame Properties toolpane to add the text that appears in the frame bubbles.

  7. You can format the text in the bubble and change the background color.

  8. Use the Frame Comments toolpane to add Author Notes, Instructor Notes, and Expected Results.

     

    In this example, the author added a note to include an Explanation frame describing an alternative method.

     

    Author notes are also useful for communicating with other authors or editors who will be working on the same topic. Author notes also appear in the Test Results document.

  9. If you are creating a test, you can use the Expected Results field to explain what the tester should see.

     

    In this example, the author added the text to the last frame.

  10. You can use the Exit command on the File menu close and save the topic.

  11. You can choose to save your changes to the topic or discard it.

  12. After editing your topic or test, you are given the chance to preview it before submitting it to the Library.
