Sound Recording Best Practices


After completing this topic, you will be able to use the Control Panel to set up your microphone for recording.


Steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel.

     

    Click the start button.

  2. Click the Control Panel list item.

  3. Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices list item.

  4. Set the microphone controls.

     

    Click the Audio tab.

  5. Select the Volume control for the microphone.

     

    Click the Volume button.

  6. Make sure that the desired microphone is selected. You can also adjust the volume.

  7. You may want to turn down the volume for the internal microphone.

  8. Close the Recording Control.

     

    Click the Close button.

  9. You can use the Voice tab to test your hardware.

  12. Follow the instructions in the Sound Hardware Test Wizard to test your microphone.

     

    Click the Next > button.

  13. Follow the instructions in the Sound Hardware Test Wizard to test your speakers.

     

    Click the Next > button.

  14. Click the Finish button.

  15. Close the properties for Sounds and Audio Devices.

     

    Click the OK button.

  17. You can start the Developer after setting up your microphone.
