After completing this topic, you will be able to add the Frame Instructor Notes bookmark to a document template.
Steps:
We have created a copy of the Instructor Manual publishing project in the WSG publishing category.
Step 1We have opened the Instructor Manual publishing project document. The template is located in the language code folder in the lang folder.
In this example, we opened the en folder from the lang folder.
Step 2Open the print template.
Double-click the PrintTemplate.docm list item.
Step 3The template opens in Microsoft Word.
Step 4We have scrolled to the Procedure table. We want to insert the Frame Instructor Notes bookmark into the table so that it appears for all frames.
We will enter three Frame Instructor Notes bookmarks; one for normal frames, one for Decision frames, and one for End frames.
Step 5Add a bookmark for normal frames after the graphic placeholder for Action Text. Position the insertion point between the end of the graphic placeholder and the beginning of the Goto_Begin bookmark.
Click just to the left of the Goto_Begin bookmark.
Step 6Add a paragraph break after the graphic placeholder to force the instructor note on a new line.
Press [Enter].
Step 7View the Template toolbar from the Add-Ins tab.
Click the Add-Ins tab.
Step 8View the frame options from the Outline menu.
Click the Outline menu.
Step 9Point to the Frames menu.
Step 10Add the bookmark for Instructor Notes.
Click the Instructor Notes command.
Step 11We've selected the FrameInstructorNotes bookmark to format the text.
Step 12We have formatted the text with italics and added a gray background to the text so that the instructor can differentiate the instructor note from the procedure text.
Step 13We have added another FrameInstructorNotes bookmark just before the DecisionFrameType_End bookmark.
We also added a blank line (paragraph) before the FrameInstructorNotes bookmark to display the text on a new line.
Step 14We have added a third bookmark for the End frame. For this bookmark, we have added a blank line above and below the instructor note to separate the instructor text from the End of Procedure text.
Step 15Use Check Syntax to make sure that your codes are entered properly.
Click the Check Syntax button.
Step 16Click OK to confirm the syntax check.
Step 17Save the template.
Click the Save button.
Step 18We have closed the template in Microsoft Word. Now save the Instructor Manual publishing project.
Click the Save button.
Step 19We have opened the Saving a Document as a New File topic in the Topic Editor to view the instructor notes in the Frame Comments toolpane.
Notice the text in the Instructor Notes field for the first frame.
This frame contains an Alternative Action. The same note applies to all alternative actions for the frame.
Step 20The Decision frame also contains an instructor note.
Step 21The first frame in the Alternative Path also contains an instructor note.
Step 22Each End frame in a Decision path contains an Instructor note.
Step 23We are publishing the Saving a Document as a New File topic to the customized instructor manual in the WSG publishing category.
Step 24We have selected the Instructor Manual document format.
Step 25We have opened the published Instructor Manual and scrolled to the Procedures table.
Notice that the instructor notes appear for normal frames and Decision frames.
Step 26The instructor notes for End frames appear as they were formatted in the template, with a blank space above and below the text.
Step 27After completing this topic, you are able to add the Frame Instructor Notes bookmark to a document template.
