Localization: Change Templates and Update Glossary Links


After completing this topic, you will be able to confirm the translation changes and update glossary links.


Steps:

  1. Change the template for the selected topic to use the Spanish template.

     

    Click in the Template field.

  3. Click the Look in list to change language folders.

  4. Select the Spanish (es) folder.

     

    Click the es list item.

  5. Click the Open button to apply the Standard - Spanish template.

  6. Open the translated topic.

     

    Double-click the Guardar un documento como archivo nuevo topic to open it.

  7. Notice the formatting of the bubble text in the Introduction frame, including the bolded text.

  8. Select the Decision frame.

     

    Click the Decision frame in the frame structure.

  9. Notice the translated text in the Decision properties fields.

  11. The template text for the bubble uses the Standard - Spanish template you selected from the es folder.

     

    Notice that the Object names are not translated.

     

    Rerecording in the localized application will capture the correct screenshots and Object names.

    Click the Close button.

  13. Double-click the WordPad glossary to open it.

    Click the Edit menu.

  21. Open the master role list to update roles.

     

    Click the Edit menu.

  23. Because the currently selected document is assigned the Spanish language property, the Spanish master role list (Roles.es) opens.

    Click the Yes button.

  27. After importing translated content with assigned roles, you should check in your master role lists.

     

    We will check in the English and Spanish roles documents for you.

  28. At this point, you have completed the Localization Export/Import process for translating your custom text. To complete the localization of your content, the following steps are needed:

     

    - Apply the template of the target language to all topics.

     

    - Re-record all topics to update screenshots, actions, and object names to the target language.

     

    - Translate package files and/or URL attachments, if necessary.
