Select the parent document to which you want to link a new topic.

Click the Formatting Paragraphs section.

Use the menu to link a new topic to the Formatting Paragraphs section.

Click the Link menu.

Click the New Topic command.

Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter "Selecting Paragraph Text".

Press [Enter].

Link a new topic to the Creating and Opening Documents section.

Click the Creating and Opening Documents section.

You can also link a new topic using the toolbar.

Click the Link New Topic button.

Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter "Creating a New Document".

Press [Enter].

With the Creating a New Document topic selected, link a new topic using the toolbar button.

Click the Link New Topic button.

Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter "Opening a Document".

Press [Enter].

If an existing topic is selected, a new topic is inserted after the selected topic. However, the new topic actually links to the nearest parent above it in the hierarchy, in this case, the Creating and Opening Documents section.
