After completing this topic, you will be able to paste a duplicate (selection and related) in the Outline Editor.
Steps:
You will create new copies of a selected document and all related documents and document links.
Step 1Select the document you want to copy.
Click the Creating Simple Formulas section in the bottom work area.
Step 2In a split layout, you can either use Copy/Paste Special or drag-and-drop to create a duplicate from one Outline Editor pane to another.
In this example, we will use drag-and-drop to create the duplicate.
Step 3Drag the Creating Simple Formulas section in the bottom work area and drop it under the Workbook Features section in the top work area.
Press the left mouse button on the Creating Simple Formulas section and drag it to the top work area.
Step 4Continue dragging.
Step 5Release the mouse button.
Step 6Notice that dragging between Outline Editor tabs automatically opens the Paste Special dialog box.
Note: Dragging between the Library tab and an Outline Editor tab in a split layout does not open the Paste Special dialog box; instead, it automatically creates a link.
Step 7Paste a duplicate copy of the selected content.
Click the Duplicate (selection and related) list item.
Step 8Click the OK button.
Step 9The duplication process starts.
As indicated by the progress bar, creating a duplicate, creates new copies of all the related documents.
Step 10We will expand the Creating Simple Formulas section you just pasted.
Step 11Notice that the Document IDs for the documents in each outline are different, indicating that both outlines link to different documents.
Step 12View the contents of the WP folder in the Library to view the new documents.
Click the Library tab.
Step 13Notice the new duplicate documents created in the folder.
Step 14Switch back to the WordPad Training outline.
Click the WordPad Training tab.
Step 15Rename one of the duplicate documents.
Click the Entering Formulas topic in the top work area.
Step 16Rename the Entering Formulas topic.
Click the Entering Formulas topic again to edit the name.
Step 17Enter the desired information into the Rename field. Enter "Typing Formulas".
Step 18Press [Enter].
Step 19Notice that the name of the topic does not change in the Excel outline.
Step 20We have switched to the Player view in both work areas of the horizontal layout.
Step 21Select the Using the AutoSum Button topic in both outlines.
Click the Using the AutoSum Button topic in the top work area.
Step 22Click the Using the AutoSum Button topic in the bottom work area.
Step 23Notice the different paths to the linked web pages in the Concept panes. Editing the web page linked to one topic will not affect the web page linked to the other topic.
Step 24After completing this topic, you are able to paste a duplicate (selection and related) in the Outline Editor.
