The Add a Note button in the Recorder is used to add notes about the content being recorded. If you are recording a topic, you can add notes on individual frames that will appear in the Author Notes field in the Topic Editor. These notes can be seen by the content administrator when checking the accuracy of your recorded content. If you are recording a test, the notes appear in the Test Results report and can be used when submitting bug information.

In Manual recording mode, the Add a Note button pauses sound recording while the note is being entered. When the note is saved, the sound recording resumes and the Recorder returns to Manual recording mode. Note that in Manual recording mode, the action and the screenshot are not recorded until you press PRINTSCREEN. If you press the Add a Note button prior to pressing PRINTSCREEN, the note is applied to the previous frame. If you press the Add a Note button after PRINTSCREEN, the note is applied to the next frame.

In Automatic recording mode, the Add a Note button pauses sound and keystroke recording while the note is being entered. When the note is saved, sound and keystroke recording resumes and the Recorder returns to Automatic recording mode. Note that in Automatic recording mode, the action and screenshot are captured as they occur so clicking the note button always applies the note to the next frame.
