Add Meta Entries

After completing this topic, you will be able to add meta entries.

Steps:

1. Clear the list to remove all input text entries except the default.

    

   Click the String input options button.

2. Click the Clear list command.

   Step 2

3. Notice that clearing the input list also removes the string input instructions in the Know It? bubble.

   Step 3

4. Add the <Anything> meta entry to the list.

    

   Click the String input options button.

   Step 4

5. Click the Add 'anything' command.

   Step 5

6. The <Anything> addition to the list added the "or leave blank" text to the Know It? bubble.

   Step 6

7. Preview the bubble text for See It!/Try It! mode.

    

   Click the Display list button.

   Step 7

8. Click the Player - See It! / Try It! list item.

   Step 8

9. The <Anything> addition to the list does not affect the text in the Try It! bubble. Only one entry is acceptable.

   Step 9

10. Close the topic and save the changes.

     

    Click the Close button.

11. Click the Yes button.

12. Preview the topic in Know It? mode.

     

    Click the Go to button.

13. Start the preview by clicking the link.

     

    Click the start link.

14. Perform the steps required to save a document as a new file.

     

    In this step, click the File menu.

    Step 14

15. In this step, click the Save As command.

    Step 15

16. The Know It? bubble prompts you to enter any valid text and gives Sales letter.rtf as the example.

     

    Because you added the <Anything> meta entry, leaving the step blank will not be scored as incorrect.

17. Enter the desired information into the File name field.

     

    Instead of the suggested Know It? value, enter the text "hello".

18. Because you typed an entry that is not in the input list, the step does not automatically advance.

19. Click the Typing Complete button in the Know It? bubble to advance the step.

20. The frame advances and your response is scored as correct.

21. Complete the preview by clicking the Save button.

     

    Click the Save button.

22. Select the Continue link to view your Know It? score.

     

    Click the continue link.

23. Exit the preview by selecting the Finish link.

     

    Click the Finish link.
