Play Sound in the Topic Editor

After completing this topic, you will be able to play sound in the Topic Editor.

Steps:

1. We have customized the layout in the Topic Editor. The Frame Structure and Sound Editor toolpanes split the docking area so that both are visible and easily accessible.

   Step 1

2. Select the frame you want to play.

    

   Click the second F frame.

   Step 2

3. Play the current frame only.

    

   Click the Play frame button.

   Step 3

4. The dotted line indicates the position in the waveform of the currently playing sound.

   Step 4

5. Because you selected Play frame, the playback stops after playing the sound for the selected frame.

   Step 5

6. The Play button plays the sound for the current frame and the next frame (if one exists).

    

   Click the Play button.

   Step 6

7. The playback starts playing the sound for the current frame.

   Step 7

8. The playback continues to play the sound for the next frame.

   Step 8

9. Pause the playback.

    

   Click the Pause button.

   Step 9

10. Resume the playback.

     

    Click the Resume button.

11. Stop the playback.

     

    Click the Stop button.

12. If playback is set to an undesirable level, you can use the Sound Tuning Wizard to change the playback volume.

     

    Note: See Adjust Sound Controls in the Edit Sound section for information about using the Sound Tuning Wizard.

13. If you click in the waveform, the playback starts from the selection point and plays to the end of the frame after the current frame. In this example, all three frames in the waveform will play.

     

    Click at the beginning of the waveform.

14. Start the playback.

     

    Click the Play button.

15. The playback starts at the selection point and plays the entire frame. In this example, we have inserted the selection point at the beginning of the frame before the selected frame.

16. The playback continues to play the current frame.

    Step 16

17. The playback continues to play the frame after the current frame.

    Step 17

18. You can also play a selection. Select a segment of sound that spans across frames.

     

    Press the left mouse button and drag the mouse to select the desired text.

19. Continue dragging.

21. Release the mouse button.

22. Play the sound selection.

     

    Click the Play button.

23. After playing the selected sound, you can clear the selection.

     

    Click the Deselect all button.
