Delete Sound


After completing this topic, you will be able to delete sound in the waveform.


Steps:

  1. Notice the flat line at the beginning of the waveform indicating a period of silence. You want to remove this silence.

  2. Drag to select the area of no sound.

     

    Press the left mouse button and drag the mouse to select the area in the waveform.

  3. Continue dragging.

  4. Release the mouse button.

  5. Delete the sound selection.

     

    Click the Delete selection button.

  6. The selection is removed from the waveform.

  7. You have selected an area where there is too much silence in the middle of the waveform. You have left some of the silence since the area occurs between paragraphs.

     

    Tip: It is a good idea to have some audio spacing between paragraphs to allow listeners the time to process the information.

  8. Delete the sound selection.

     

    Click the Delete selection button.

  9. The extra silence is removed from the waveform.

  10. The recording also includes a small segment where the narrator was coughing. Rather than re-recording the entire script, you have selected the sound segment with the cough for deletion.

     

    Click the Delete selection button.
