The Copy Scale component enables you to configure chart axes to behave in an alternate manner to the default behavior applied by Interactive Reporting Studio .
The component is designed to manipulate bar and line charts. A bar and line chart displays facts using pairs of columns. The first column is displayed as a bar, the second is shown as a line. This behavior displays a comparison of two value types.
Values that do not use the same scale; for example, Revenue and Rainfall, Revenue and Units Sold, and so on.
Values that are similar in scale; for example, Plan versus Actual.
Interactive Reporting Studio independently calculates bar and line chart axes (left and right). The behavior is ideal for example 1, but is problematic for example 2, as it can present a misleading data view. In example 2, the scales on the sides should be identical to show immediately how close the planned value is to the actual value.
The Copy Scale component manipulates chart axes and sets the scales to match. The largest value is set within the visual scope of the chart. The component includes a configuration frame that specifies which charts are to be manipulated and which keep the default behavior.
