Designing Dashboards with the Metadata-Enhanced Template

*  To design a dashboard with the metadata-enhanced template:

  1. From Dashboard Studio Start, select a template or editable source master (ESM) that contains the Metadata component, and click Next button.

Dashboard Studio moves to Step 1: Create Queries, Tables, Charts, Pivots, and Reports.

  2. Insert a query using an Interactive Reporting database connection with metadata definitions.

In this step, use the database connection that was created in Creating Interactive Reporting Database Connections with References to Metadata. This action enables charts and pivots to be created that use user-friendly names.

  3. Create the Interactive Reporting Studio sections, such as charts, pivots, and tables, to be displayed on the dashboard, and use Dashboard Studio to name them.

  4. In Dashboard Studio, click Next button to move to the Frames step.

  5. Select the frame prototype to use for the dashboard.

  6. Click Next button to move to the Layout step.

  7. In Interactive Reporting Studio, drag sections onto the frames.

  8. In Dashboard Studio, click Next button to move to the Associate step.

  9. Click Associate button to associate the sections.

  10. Complete the remaining Dashboard Studio steps, and save the dashboard.

The Metadata feature is accessible by clicking Metadata button or Help button, depending on how the template is customized.
