Identifying Queries to Process

Before configuring the Quick Query Limit controls, query sections that contain the query limits to be displayed in Query Panel, must be available for processing.

*  To identify queries for processing:

  1. In Interactive Reporting Studio, open a dashboard that contains the Quick Query Limits component.

  2. Navigate to HYSL Queries and Datamodels.

  3. Optional: To prevent locking a user out of a database, clear Stop logging in on first connection error on the HYSL Queries and Datamodels frame to force the dashboard to connect to the remaining queries even if it encounters an error.

Locking occurs when a user logs into multiple queries using the HYSL Query Login frame, and an error is encountered on one query. If the queries use the same database, and the database has a connection attempt limit, the user can be locked out.

  4. Move query sections between Available Sections and Sections to Process by clicking Right Arrow button and Left Arrow button.

  5. Repeat step 3 for each query section to be processed.

  6. Optional: You can leave queries in Available Sections that are not processed.

Queries remaining in Available Sections are used to cache values that are displayed in tree limits, lists or, drop-down lists that obtain values from a cached result section. These sections are refreshed by running the dashboard regularly in the scheduler. When running in the scheduler only the queries in Available Sections are refreshed.

  7. Optional: Reorder Sections to Process, by selecting a section and clicking Query Limits Up Arrow Bold button or Query Limits Down Arrow Bold button.

  8. Click Apply.

  9. Move to Query Panel.

If one or more selected queries require a database connection, HYSL Query Login is displayed.

  10. If HYSL Query Login is displayed, enter log on details, and click OK.

    Query Panel is displayed.

Note:

If HYSL Query Login fails to connect to a query in the Interactive Reporting Web Client or in EPM Workspace, an explanatory dialog box is displayed that contains the database connection error.
