You use the Build Dashboard UI frame to add one or more Webdash shapes (a drop-down list, command button, list box, and rectangle) to frame prototypes so that runtime Build Dashboard features can be used with existing templates.
The drop-down list, button, and list controls are used to make filters generically accessible. You should add the drop-down list, button, and list box controls to all frame prototypes to be used with the Build Dashboard section. The button is required only for frame prototypes that do not contain a button for a Quick Filters list box.
The rectangle identifies the location and size of pivots, charts, and tables to be embedded. You copy the rectangle one or more times to each frame prototype to be used with the Build Dashboard section, and position and resize as required.
Frame prototypes are available in the Webdash_Template.bqy and Frame_Library.bqy. These files are located in the templates folder.
Tip:
If the component is merged with a document, display frame prototypes in Interactive Reporting Studio, by selecting View, then Unhide Section.
Note:
If you want to use Quick Slice on your dashboards, configure options before importing into EPM Workspace.
To add shapes and controls to frames:
In Interactive Reporting Studio, open the merged document or template.
From Sections, select Build Dashboard UI.
Press Ctrl+D to enter Design mode.
Select the rectangle, and press Ctrl+C.
From Sections, select a frame prototype on which to place the rectangle.
For example, if the component was merged with the Round Tab Panel Template, select 4 Panels Round Tab.
Paste the rectangle by pressing Ctrl+V, and resize if necessary.
Shapes are named according to the order in which they are pasted. For example, the panel headings are displayed as Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, and Heading 4, left to right. Therefore, you should paste shapes in the order in which you want them numbered.
Optional: To view a shape name, right-click the shape, and select Properties.
The name is displayed as Panel_Background_1, Panel_Background_2, Panel_Background_3, and so on, with an incremental end number.
On the frame prototype, select and delete all Quick Filters controls.
In Build Dashboard UI. copy the drop-down list, button, and list controls to replace the deleted frame prototype controls.
Paste and position the controls on the frame prototype.
The section called Hysl_rtdb is required to enable the functionality of the shapes in Webdash-configured documents. Hysl_rtdb is not required to be visible to function correctly. To locate the section, select View, then Unhide Section, and click Cancel.
Repeat steps 2–10 to add shapes to other frame prototypes.
Press Ctrl+D to exit Design mode.
Select File, then Save.
Close the template or document.
