Creating Runtime Documents

Note:

Creating a runtime document removes the code necessary to create and configure dashboard sections. It is not possible to reconfigure a runtime document. As a result, you should always save an updated copy of your working ESM BQY before creating a runtime document.

*  To create a runtime document when there is no existing runtime folder or document:

  1. In the Build Dashboards section, click Make Runtime.

A Create a Runtime document dialog box is displayed.

  2. Read the information in the Create a Runtime Document dialog box and click Yes to continue.

A Runtime folder is created and an Alert dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the Alert dialog box, click Yes to continue.

A runtime document is created and saved in the newly-created Runtime folder, and the ESM document is closed.

*  To create a runtime document when a runtime document exists with the same path and name:

  1. In the Build Dashboards section, click Make Runtime.

A message is displayed letting you know that there is already a file with the same name in the Runtime folder.

  2. Do one of the following and click Yes to continue.

    • Select Overwrite file.

    • Change the file name.

An Alert dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the Alert dialog box, click Yes to continue.

A runtime document is created and saved, and the ESM document is closed.

*  To create a runtime document in Workspace:

  1. Save your original ESM document as <some_name>_esm.bqy.

  2. Save this same document as <some_name>.bqy.

This is the document that will be turned into a runtime document.

  3. In the Build Dashboards section, click Make Runtime.

A Create a Runtime Document dialog box is displayed.

  4. In the Create a Runtime Document dialog box, click Yes to continue.

An Alert dialog box is displayed.

  5. In the Alert dialog box, click Yes to continue.

The Alert dialog box lets you know when the process is complete and the runtime document is created.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Save and close the document.

  8. Open the runtime version of the document in Workspace.

*  To create a packed runtime document:

  1. In the Build Dashboards section, click Make Runtime.

A Create a Runtime Document dialog box is displayed.

  2. In the Create a Runtime Document dialog box, select Packed Runtime.

An Alert dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the Alert dialog box, click Yes to continue.

A packed runtime document is created.
